These workshops are designed for elected and appointed officials who make planning and zoning recommendations and decisions as well as planning staff. The series covers the basic laws, principles and practices that have shaped the planning process in Florida. Planning officials will receive basic instruction about Florida’s planning and growth management system, his/her role and how to do the job more effectively.

Planning Administration Best Practices - August 17, 2018 (Session #1 - 8:30 am - Noon; Session #2 - 12:30 pm - 4:00 pm)
This day is broken into two sessions.  Participants may choose to attend both sessions for a bundled savings of $25 and this registration option includes lunch.  Participants may opt to attend just one of the two sessions offered that day (Session #1 which is focused on Reforming the Comprehensive Plan or Session #2 which is focused on Managing Land Use Regulations). Registration for each session includes workshop materials and snacks.  Only full day attendees will receive lunch with their registration.  Eligible AICP attendees will receive 3 CM credits per session for attending and FACTOR (CCC/CGE) participants will receive 3 elective credits for attending the entire day.

 

Planning Officials Training - August 18, 2018 (8:30 am - 4:00 pm)

This one day workshop is designed for elected and appointed officials who make planning and zoning recommendations and decisions as well as planning staff. The series covers the basic laws, principles and practices that have shaped the planning process in Florida.  Planning officials will receive basic instruction about Florida’s planning and growth management system, his/her role and how to do the job more effectively. Peer ex-change and discussion are also valuable parts of this event. Topics Include: Topic #1 Planning and Growth Management in Florida; Topic #2 Roles and Responsibilities; Topic #3 Constitutional and Legal Foundations for Planning; Topic #4: The Community Building Process; and Topic #5 Decision-making. Registration for this all day workshop includes workshop materials, snacks, and lunch.  Eligible AICP attendees will receive 6 CM credits for attending and FACTOR (CCC/CGE) participants will receive 6 core credits for their attendance.  ACC Alumni will receive 25 Torchbearer points for attending this session.
